6 Medical Awards 2017/18 Editor’s Letter The medical industry is an exciting space to observe as the rapid advancement of medical technology and the pace at which scientific discoveries are being uncovered is accelerating. New treatments and methods of best practices are constantly being developed to enable better results and faster rehabilitation. We are seeing improvements to facilities and equipment being utilised to enhance all aspects of the industry from research and development to diagnostics and even the enablement of quicker and more efficient surgery practices. Even the administrative side of the operations is being transformed with big data revolutionising the way that patients are monitored in hospitals around the world. The Medical LiveWire Global Awards was established to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the individuals and companies that are ensuring we receive the very best care, be it through surgery from their very hands or through their achievements and services provided to the industry as a whole. Those highlighted within this publication are responsible for building (in the case of the medical architects, quite literally!) the future of our medical industry and thus ensure we continue to lead healthier and longer lives.
